Isn’t it wonderful that people of all ages like to write from their imaginations? Joe is a 90 year-young-at-heart who has written poetry all of his life. Thanks, Joe.

SPRING
Everyone enjoys
The season we call Spring
When the skies are blue
And little birds sing,
As the weather becomes warm
And not so bitter cold
And the world
Begins to look young
Instead of withered and old
As she abandons
The dreary winter scene
And allows the trees
And grass to green.
Our spirits
Cannot help but lighten
As all around us
Starts to brighten.
We know that April
Will bring some showers,
But April’s showers
Will bring May’s flowers
With their myriad colors
That fill the eye
And lift our hearts
To a pleasant high.
I like Spring, don’t you?

Last year Sharon published a poetry book for Joe, a retired United States Navy Captain who lives in Fairhope, Alabama. Joe was recently honored for his distinguished military career and for a patriotic poem he had written, called “Old Glory”. His patriotic poem is used during recognition ceremonies to honor World War 11 veterans and has been widely published in the United States. When Sharon visited Joe this past winter, he happily gave his permission to include his poem called "Spring" in our MeadowLane Newsletter. Joe has plans to publish a children’s book about a seahorse named Sammy. It’s a good story and we’ll let you know when it’s available in print.
